Craig Taylor

Build Director

Wellington born and bred,  Craig officially began his building career in 1989 as an apprentice in our wonderful city. Now with over 30 years experience working on more than 900 houses, from altering workingman’s cottages to building multi-million dollar luxury new homes, his skills have delivered high-quality renovations and new builds all over Wellington, and in the UK.

Craig embraces the challenge of building better homes for New Zealanders – warm, healthy and energy-efficient should be a minimum.  Being one of the first in Wellington to build his own SIP home, using Passive House principles (along with utilising solar panels), he truly walks the talk.

As a Certified Passive House Tradesperson, New Zealand Carpentry trade qualifications, and Licensed Building Practitioner registration in two disciplines (both Carpentry and Site Two) – you have independent confirmation that Craig is competent in co-ordinating and overseeing the most complex residential building projects.  Under Craig’s guidance Bright Build has won five Registered Master Builder House of the Year Awards.

However, the real evidence of Craig’s expertise is to be found in his work and relationships with his clients.  To read more about his building experience click here.

Roger Davis

Commercial Advisor

Roger provides expertise across many areas of Bright Build’s business – contracts, human resources, commercial arrangements and financial advice.

Roger is an accountant and has been the commercial manager for a number of large companies in New Zealand.  His breadth of experience spans many industries including: exporting meat works, a consultancy firm, innovative start ups and even a commercial building firm that specialised in bridge construction.

Having recently sold his business (employing 150 people), Bright Build is grateful to have Roger’s extensive experience and knowledge on board.

And don’t be fooled by the Accountant stereotype  – Roger spent his formative years on the tennis circuit, travelling in a converted ambulance with his surfboard tied on top.

Deb Barrett

Design Guru

With a true eye for design, Deb is our expert graphic designer.  Initially Deb’s love of art and design led to a degree in Arts, Art History and Classics at Victoria University, followed by further tertiary study in Graphic Design.  Three years in London were spent saving (and then spending!) her earnings to experience first-hand the architecture and art-filled museums throughout Europe.

Deb’s life-long interest in architecture and interiors is a true asset to Bright Build.   Expertise from roles such as a Digital Artist for Clemenger BBDO Advertising help Bright Build maintain and expand our brand across a variety of mediums.  And an amazing ability to stage a room and instinctively know the best placement for furniture is highly valued by Bright Build and our clients.

Deb’s other passion is food, and her years in New York were spent as a designer and marketer for an esteemed New York high-society caterer.  The culinary arts are still a big interest for Deb, with time spent researching foods and writing her food blog.
