Wellington born and bred, Craig officially began his building career in 1989 as an apprentice in our wonderful city. Now with over 28 years experience working on more than 900 houses, from altering workingman’s cottages to building $1million+ luxury new homes, his skills have delivered high-quality renovations and new builds all over Wellington, and in the UK.
Craig embraces the challenge of building better homes for New Zealanders – warm, healthy and energy-efficient should be a minimum. Being one of the first in Wellington to build his own SIP home, using Passive House principles (along with utilising solar panels), he truly walks the talk.
With Carpentry trade qualifications, Licensed Building Practitioner registration in two disciplines (both Carpentry and Site Two) – you have independent confirmation that Craig is competent in co-ordinating and overseeing the most complex residential building projects. And he has also been part of the Registered Master Builder network for over 28 years.
However, the real evidence of Craig’s expertise is to be found in his work and relationships with his clients. To read more about his building experience click here.
Jen grew up in Hawke’s Bay, and came to Wellington for University were she gained a BSc and a Masters in Management (Technolgy) with Distinction. Following she was employed by Unilever, (one of the four largest consumer goods companies in the world), and the Mainland as a Product Manager. A decade long career at New Zealand Post saw Jen move through the ranks from Product Manager, and culminating as the sole Adviser to the Postal CEO.
Experience across these diverse roles and industries has given Jen a wide knowledge of business, marketing, project management, processes and the importance of delighting your customers. Her goal is to provide the very best in quality and customer service across the entire Bright Build building experience.
When pregnant with their fourth child, Jen and Craig joined forces to create Bright Build – representing a unique combination of their respective skills and expertise to lift the standard of residential building in Wellington.
Edwin grew up in Wellington’s Eastern Suburbs, and his leadership and building skills are a much valued asset to the Bright Build Team. As Foreman, his focus on quality and timeliness ensures a great result. And Edwin’s outgoing personality fosters strong on-site relationships.
One of the projects that Edwin is most proud of is uniquely Wellington, when he rebuilt the sculptures on the City to Sea Bridge across Waterloo Quay. If you look closely you will find that the bridge has two whales on the Northern side and two seagulls on the Southern view.
Edwin embraces challenges to expand his building knowledge – he built the vault where Peter Jackson’s old and original film stock is stored. The vault required a 120 minute fireproof fire-rating, and included the first low oxygen/vapour control fire suppression system in New Zealand.
When not on-site, you are likely to find Edwin renovating his home, racing quad bikes, or at the rifle-range. As the 2017 small-bore target shooting B grade champion for Wellington, practice makes perfect.
Roger provides expertise across many areas of Bright Build’s business – contracts, human resources, commercial arrangements and financial advice.
Roger is an accountant and has been the commercial manager for a number of large companies in New Zealand. His breadth of experience spans many industries including: exporting meat works, a consultancy firm, innovative start ups and even a commercial building firm that specialised in bridge construction.
Having recently sold his business (employing 150 people), Bright Build is grateful to have Roger’s extensive experience and knowledge on board.
And don’t be fooled by the Accountant stereotype – Roger spent his formative years on the tennis circuit, travelling in a converted ambulance with his surfboard tied on top.
With a true eye for design, Deb is our expert graphic designer. Initially Deb’s love of art and design led to a degree in Arts, Art History and Classics at Victoria University, followed by further tertiary study in Graphic Design. Three years in London were spent saving (and then spending!) her earnings to experience first-hand the architecture and art-filled museums throughout Europe.
Deb’s life-long interest in architecture and interiors is a true asset to Bright Build. Expertise from roles such as a Digital Artist for Clemenger BBDO Advertising help Bright Build maintain and expand our brand across a variety of mediums. And an amazing ability to stage a room and instinctively know the best placement for furniture is highly valued by Bright Build and our clients.
Deb’s other passion is food, and her years in New York were spent as a designer and marketer for an esteemed New York high-society caterer. The culinary arts are still a big interest for Deb, with time spent researching foods and writing her food blog.
